The research role
The research function brings together AI platform responses for a defined mortgage question. Its purpose is to preserve the meaning of those responses and make the resulting comparisons understandable. Platform coverage, provider naming, and the distinction between a recommendation and a passing mention all affect interpretation.
The published study is the place to look for the specific research date and evidence available for that question. A description of our general process is not proof that a particular check occurred in every study.
The publishing role
The Mortgage Index Publishing Team publishes our consensus indexes and provider fit reviews. Editorial work explains each study in plain language, separates findings from inference, and makes important limitations visible.
Publishing and mortgage review are distinct responsibilities. Articles identify the Mortgage Index Publishing Team as publisher and Stephen Seidler as reviewer. Neither role turns an AI recommendation into a guarantee of approval, pricing, service quality, or suitability.
The mortgage review role
Stephen Seidler is the publication's named Mortgage Research Reviewer. The scope of that role is mortgage terminology, factual context, and consumer-facing mortgage information. It does not confer control over the underlying AI ranking results.
